After 30 or 40 years in the mad rush of the corporate world, you should be happy taking a break. Retirement at this stage should come as a great relief rather than a pain. At least now you can afford to do those things you loved doing, but couldn't do because work did not permit you to.

Staying active after retirement means indulging in lots of physical activities. You could also help out in charity homes and engage in other hobbies you love. This way, there will never be a dull moment after your retirement.

When considering investment for your retirement, you really have to sit down and do some thinking. Ask yourself which will be most ideal-- should it be a home investment, stock or bonds etc. This will help you concentrate and get involved with the right investment.

Budget is one thing you must never take for granted when hoping to be a successful retiree. Always map out everything you are going to do with your money before spending. Never spend outside your plans if not budgeted for. If you can afford to, its one trick most successful millionaires use you too can benefit from it.

The southwest part of the United States is very good for retirement. This part includes areas such as Arizona, Nevada and Utah. These spots are renowned for their predominant western lifestyle and friendly people. The climate is dry and sunny and is perfect for those who are basking from the freetime of their retirement. California is also a good retirement spot.

One of the many problems retirees have is an inability to map out the plan for the next stage of their lives. If you don't want to be idle after you retire, there are a number of things that you can do. They include - volunteer services at various places such as charities, non-governmental bodies, etc.

Retirement means having enough rest. Or have you forgotten that working round the clock without enough time to give your bones good rest can cause more havoc to your body than you can ever imagine?
