Senator Obama and Senator McCain's insurance plan proposals have been reviewed by top economists and they have decided that neither plan will work. The Washington Times and Associated Press report that economists have concluded that neither proposals offer any good for Americans.
Economists estimate that, under McCain's reform plan, about 20 million workers would be edged out of the employer based health insurance system. McCain's plan encourages individual health insurance to be purchased across state line, resulting in 21 million being able to get coverage.
The $2,500 and $5,000 tax credits Senator McCain provides won't offer any savings, either, explains the critique. Once premiums start to increase and coverage benefits are cut, the tax credits won't do much to help Americans get ahead. Basically, these economists dismissed McCain's plan as doing nothing to reduce the number of uninsured Americans.
The three economists grading the plans say that Obama's plan is not any better. His plan that required employers to provide employees with health care, would be costly to the government, and probably quicken inflation.
In his plan, job losses and pay cuts would be a result of his requiring businesses to provide workers with health benefits. Although the reports appear cynical, we are not experts. - 15224
