Who Else Wants Health Insurance Plans?

By Don Pedro

Insuring yourself against high cost of medical bills can be like swimming with the sharks. Lots of insurance companies paint themselves as if they are the godsend answer to your prayers whereas they indeed are trying to add you up to their customer base to increase their profits. That's why it's very important to be careful with the insurance companies to sign up with. Not all of them can be trusted.

The age of the population has an effect on the general rate of maintaining a health insurance. With the increase in the age of a particular insurer's customer, the request for claims will definitely increase. These insurance companies have to ensure that they remain in business by increasing their premium values. That's why it's advisable to get a health insurance early in life. Don't wait until you get old before getting health insurance.

If you have to source for your health coverage privately, you will want to take advantage of the new 80/20 policies provided these days. It means you'll have to pay 20% of the total cost of your health bills. This will reduce the rate of your premium considerably and in the long run you will realize that you have saved considerably on your coverage.

The health cover you get varies in three different ways-- the service provided, which is the exact plan you settle for; the payment mode, which is the way you receive claims if they are made directly or you receive reimbursement after paying yourself; and the exact out-of-pocket cost, this is the financial implication of running on the plan you are.

Remember that you have to consider your schedules before signing up for a policy. If you are a person that travels a lot, you will need a policy that allows you to take treatment from any doctor and not the type that restricts you to a particular network of doctors. This may mean you'll have to pay and receive reimbursement on your medical bills.

While looking for a health insurance policy, bear in mind that your age will determine the rate at which you get a particular policy. Older people are more susceptible to illness than younger people, so it is possible to have an older person pay more for the same coverage or policy enjoyed by a younger individual.

If you are a good saver you can cut off health insurance by saving up for health issues on your own. If you have a regular contribution to a particular bank, you can receive loans to offset medical bills that are outside your savings. This way you know you are covered and at the same time you are not paying exorbitantly for a service you may not even use. Remember this will only work for you if you are a good saver!

Raising your deductible sure helps you beat up the cost of your health policy. If you are the type that rarely visits your doctor, take the cost of visiting your doctor and save up the money you pay on monthly premiums. If you do this you may end up saving a lot of money to make your pocket fat. - 15224
