As Americans, we can't help but wonder what lies ahead for our country. With a new party taking over and a new President going to take office in just a few months, we can only hope for the changes in the health care system that we have been promised. As we all know, although I believe they have the best of intentions, the truth is that once a new President comes into office, the fact is things may change or they may not we just have to wait and see.
If the new President could manage to iron out the insurance markets and lower health insurance premiums, making sure we all can afford health care, that would be magnificent. I think this would be a true test for Obama.
For an American to have a good health plan, through a reputable provider, they usually need to have a policy under an employer. Not all Americans have this advantage and are left to find other means of health care, at times relying on the government for menial care.
Usually, when you have coverage through an employer, you pay a portion of the actual cost, and your employer pays the remainder. For example, my family pays about $86 every pay period, which is two times a month, and the company pays the rest. Usually they pay a larger portion. This is really not that horrible for a family of four. Many people I know pay more than that a week! Of course, we have a deductible, but everyone usually has a deductible to meet before their coverage kicks in.
In the big picture, the ideal scenario would be lower premiums, or at least premiums not going up. This will obviously take time, but I am hoping our new President can usher in this change swiftly. We can only do better at this point, the aim should be for our entire country to have access to sufficient health care. - 15224
