Improving Your Financial Situation: Myfico Score

By Jim Bransby

A Fico score is another name for a credit score. Most people are aware of the negative effects a bad fico score can provide. However, improving it is achievable with patience, effort, and having the knowledge to know what the factors are that can lower your score.

One of the ways to improve your score is to pay your bills on time. If you are behind on bill payments, this is reported on your report in a negative way. After paying your cards on time for six months, you will see a definite improvement in your score.

Another way to improve your myfico score is by keeping your card balances low in relation to your card limit. Your fico score is partially calculated by comparing the card limit to the card balance. Try to keep your card balance low by paying more than the minimum every month.

Many people are often surprised that unpaid medical bills are also included in the myfico score. Although medical bills do not carry the same weight as other bills on a report. They can effectively lower your score in some instances. Try to pay these bills or set up a payment plan so that they are unable to lower your score.

A large number of inquiries on your report can also lower your myfico score. This includes inquiries by the companies you owe money to, places you have applied for accounts, as well as other types of inquires. Inquiries by you, the reportas owner, do not lower your score.

Financial experts often disagree over the idea of open accounts with no balances and their effect on fico scores. Some say that many open accounts present as risky and lower the score. Others say that these open accounts have no effect on scores. The best advice is to keep accounts open that may be used in the future while closing accounts that you have no intention of using again.

Remember to check your fico score. Many companies offer your fico score free if you are a customer with them. Also your accounts may include your fico score. Make sure you do this to keep track of increases and/or decreases in your score.

To avoid the negative effects of having a low fico score, its important that you remember the above tips as well as check your fico score as well. This things will help improve your score in a short period of time. - 15224
