Help Your Young Ones Grow, Let Them Play

By Alix Montoya

Unfortunately, kids today are more concerned with the latest happenings on the television or the Internet to even be bothered with a little old fashioned game of tag. It's such a sad state that we live in when kids choose videogames more often times than they would want to play in person with real friends. They are being drawn in on the virtual fun that these games give, which is exactly just that: virtual.

It is best to encourage our children to engage in the little physical activities that these games give. We all know that it's a bad thing to let children just spend the whole day locked up inside the house and playing nothing but videogames and chatting over the Internet. Old fashioned games promote a healthy way to exercise for children.

Tag or Hide-and-Go-Seek are games which are great in developing many sides to a kid growing up. Firstly, the physical nature of these games, as opposed to sitting all day letting your fingers do all the work in computer games, are significantly great in developing a healthy body and a healthy mind for a child. They encourage children that sweating isn't a thing to be afraid of and that it's actually something that's fun to do.

Another great thing that games like these give is the sense of being to play with other kids. These interactions are a great way to shape up a kid's social skills which he or she will be needing as she grows up. The child is encouraged to recognized that the world is filled with people whom he or she must deal with instead of just being locked up in a dark room all by him or herself.

So teach your children the value of games and make sure that they have a great time doing it. There are plenty of games out there that make for a fun and sweaty afternoon like freeze tag, where the it chases people and tags them to freeze them until everyone gets frozen. You can also teach them the old game prisoner's base, where a team tries to rescue a teammate trapped in an opposing team's prison while trying to capture a prisoner for themselves.

I'm sure you want your kid to have the most out of his or her childhood. Teaching them how to play fair through the games that taught you the same is a great way to start. So tell your kid to get off the couch and begin running around with his or her friends. - 15224
