Insurance Quotes Health Discount Travel

By Gugu Martini

With an ever increasing turbulent world, tourism is one of those hit by the number of problems that can occur at any time and once you have paid out on your Caribbean cruise or Europe vacation, you are at risk of losing everything you have invested into it. It is surprising therefore how so many people still refuse to take out travel insurance as they feel it is unnecessary.

Considering the amount of money that travel insurance actually costs in relation to the overall vacation cost, it is minimal at around five to ten percent but can give the traveler peace of mind when so many things can go wrong. Any unforeseen situation could prevent you from traveling or force you to seek medical attention whilst away and in both cases money will be lost.

Other situations that can occur are when you cannot actually keep your reservation and of course the entire amount you have paid on the vacation will be lost. Although, if you have taken out travel insurance you will find that this type of situation would not leave you out of pocket no would you or your family be if you or they needed emergency cash, replace credit cards or medical treatment to name only a few situations.

There are occasions where a situation prevents us from taking our holidays right at the last minute where normally all money paid to that point can be forfeit but travel insurance can prevent this happening. Trip cancellation should be a standard requirement of a travel insurance plan as it is the most common reason why a person does not go on their vacation.

A trip can also be interrupted partway through and cancellation coverage will refund any unused parts of your vacation including any unused deposits for other trips. With terrorism on the increase, this is a section of travel insurance to watch out for as some policies will only cover for acts of terrorism when you are in a foreign country.

The biggest determining factor as to the cost of travel insurance will be the age of the person(s) on the policy. If the airline, cruise line or tour operations file for bankruptcy then almost all travel insurance policies include financial default coverage if the program is purchased within 15 days of making the initial trip deposit.

Always check for duplicate coverage as there are a few types of insurance related to travel that you may not need because you are covered from other sources which could include your health insurance, life insurance or even your car insurance policy, may have limited coverage. Duplications in insurance coverage will merely mean you are paying for something twice so it is worth your while checking other policies before you finally commit. Always check the small print on any documentation before you sign, especially the section on exemptions or exclusions as you may believe you are covered for something when you read about it but are not in fact. - 15224
