There is a very True and Great way to go after and look at our work, but the problem is that we dont always get to do what we enjoy or even work with people that we get along with. With this in mind, we must still strive to love what we do for work, and we will never work a day in your life. Any work you have, even a job that you love well, will have its bad points and chores that will feel miserable to you. So, the way for us to get the best efforts out of our work and love it, we must make sure that our attitude and mind is not based upon the work itself or our own emotions.
Our work must emulate our situation as Gods children. We need to have great wisdom, and to take on a new manner of looking at our work. (Colossians 3:23) Work wholeheartedly and willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Work for the Lord you worship, and you will be delighted every day of your life.
Biblical obedience isnt just an external show along with an inward dissatisfaction and bitterness, but a true commitment to the happiness and well-being of our employer. Servants, obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are observing you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord (Colossians 3:22). Times have definitely changed drastically through the years of history, but this profound godly principle still applies to the world of today. We get the greatest results from our work when we view ourselves as servants. Our modern day civilization educates us to pursue power and respect for ourselves, instead of working diligently for those who are in authority over us. But Gods Word teaches us very different principles, and that is one of respect for the authority above us, and one of hard diligent work that is not self-serving.
Gods children are commanded to be His servants. Since we spend an enormous amount of time at our work, much of our accountability of service will be done there. As employees, we are to apply the biblical principles of obedience and sacrifice, because it does not matter who our human boss might be, God is the ultimate authority that is governing our actions. He wants to see us practicing righteousness and diligence at work.
If you are working a Christian Home Business, it would be YOU that is now considered the boss, but please remember that you still have a higher boss that is still in charge of you - and that is our Lord. If you are so blessed by God to be working in a home based business, which I highly recommend for just about everyone, you must make sure that you are taking good care of it and working very hard, or your ultimate commander (boss) will take it away from you. I suggest to everyone that they research the idea of a home based business, just so they can see if it is the right decision for their financial situation.
It doesnt matter if you are working for someone as an employee, or if you are fortunate enough to have a home based business, you must always remember that God didnt create us to be ordinary or average at anything we do in life. We are called by God to be people of exceptional quality, and He doesnt want us to do just enough to get by in life. He expects us to be honorably noticed in the crowd, and to be people of high character and integrity.
The only way to truly be happy in our life and work, is to be who we are expected to be, and that is people of excellence and integrity. If there is any hint of compromise in the quality of our work, we could lose out on what could have been our greatest victories or our biggest achievements in life.
God doesnt bless mediocrity, but he does bless greatness and excellence! You must not allow mediocrity or commonness to be a part of your life or work, because you will easily be missing out on some wonderful and outstanding blessings that God had in store for your life. If we work with a high standard of excellence in our intellect, God promises to reward and take care of us! If you want the absolute best for your life, then you must always be heading in the direction of excellence and integrity for your life. A great way to begin this journey, is to always do a little bit more than you are required or expected to do in every aspect of your life. This little bit more that you do, will be the little bit that makes a big difference in your life being one of just average, or your life being one of great excellence and grand achievement. - 15224
