Health Insurance: Why Me?

By Graham McKenzie

Health insurance is offered at two different levels - policies that the policy holder signs up for and another more extinct form of health insurance known as public sector health insurance. Public sector health insurance is offered free of charge and covers the most basic of treatments.

A lot of people refuse to sign up for health insurance or sign up above basic coverage because they do not feel they need the coverage and will pay too much monthly in premiums. However a solid coverage plan can come at a very cheap rate. Especially if you are in relatively good health and do not have a lot of medical demands.

Medical science and research has discovered the average life span of male and females increasing. The numbers are quite staggering as statistics show an average of 81-82 years for females and 77-78 years for males. What could you do in your life with those extra years?

However, if you do not live a healthy and active lifestyle, how can you expect to stay in good health? Adopting a healthier lifestyle means being careful of what you eat, exercising more often, and moderating alcohol intake. This also means kicking old habits like smoking where it is a common link to lung cancer and other diseases.

Once you have done your part to reduce your risk of bad health, it's now time to turn the responsibility over to the health insurance company. You might think, 'I'm healthy, I do not need health insurance," but that is the entire purpose of health insurance. It covers health costs if God forbid, something terrible should strike at any given moment.

You do not need to wait for the last second to snag health insurance coverage. When people become desperate they turn to desperate measures, which mean signing up for a cheap policy that really does not do squat to protect your medical costs. If you sign up way in advance for the anticipation that something could go wrong, you avoid getting ripped out of your money.

You can save money now by not paying for health insurance, but you will also lose a lot more plus emotional damages when you wait until it's too late. Health can be bitter and change for the worse at the most inopportune moment. Avoid the chance it does and solidify your future. Love life and live it to its fullest. - 15224
