Kentucky Medical Insurance

By Jeff Cline

When it comes to finding health insurance in the Bluegrass state the options are plentiful. Nobody needs to go without health insurance. With a little reserach you too can find options that meet your needs.

Kentucky residents still remain uninsured despite all the options. Roughly 12% of them are still not insured. That 12% is risking huge financial doom and studies have shown they will not get the health care they need. It is just not worth the risks you see.

We can start with employer sponsered group insurance. If this is an option and you do have a health condition it may be the best option. They must cover every condition on a group policy. There are disadvantages however, dependent coverage tends to be very expensive and you do not get to choose your plan.

If group insurance is not an option or you need something more affordable for you or your dependents you can check out individual health insurance. Individual insurance is offered by most carriers. This option allows you freedom to choose benefit packages based on you rneeds and budget. The disadvantage is that they can decline or put limitations on pre exisiting health conditions.

If you get declined coverage due to a health condition there is another option. Kentucky Access is a state program. this program helps these individuals get health insurance despite their medical conditions.

Kentucky also has a state mandated plan called KCHIP, which stands for Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program. It provide low cost health insurance to low income families for children under the age of 18. If you have children with no insurance you must check it out!

For those left with no options you should visit your local Kentucky Department of Medicaid Services. They offer government funded options to residents. Qualified people will get health benefits as well as other assistance to help them meet their needs.

Whatever you situation do not go uninsured. The risk is not worth it. You have many options to explore. It just takes a little research and knowledge. Don't hesitate make sure you have the health insurance you deserve today. - 15224
