Health insurance - Never go without!

By Jeff Cline

Some people just do not understand the kind of financial turmoil going without health insurance can cause if the unforseen should occur. Illness or accidents that just can not be expected can happen anytime to anybody, that's a fact. And it does not matter if you are healthy your family should never be without health insurance coverage.

It is a tragedy that so many people go without health insurance simply because they can not afford it. There is no need insurance companies have many plans for all different budgets. Most carriers have a low cost saver kind of plan. These plans protect you from financial ruin due to a major illness, but still remain very affordable.

If you are only temporary going to have a loss of coverage you should purchase short term health insurance. Short Term health insurance usually has deductibles from $250 - $7500. It doesn't typically cover routine stuff, but will cover the big stuff. If you need to keep cost down go with a higher premium.

If you are looking for something more long term and would like your office visits to be covered with only a co pay to pay then you should look at PPO plans. The premiums are sometimes a bit higher then the plans we have covered so far, but can vary depending on benefits and premium. There are often many custom options for these plans.

Another cool type of plan is the HSA (Health Savings Account). This kind of plan allows you to contribute money to the account to use for medical expenses. And it is all non taxable. These plans usually have high deductibles and only a few have routine visits.

Some people buy an accident policy to help offset some medical expenses. An accident policy will pay a pre determined cash benefit for each occurance. The amount the would pay would depend on the reason the expense was incurred. For example, if you trip an brake an arm, they may pay you $50.

Don't fool yourself into thinking that it is not important to worry about a lapse in health insurance coverage. You could pay for this kind of bad judgement. Take the time to search the web. there are many plans that can fit most all budgets and needs.

A little health insurance coverage is much better then nothing at all. If you opt for a low cost budget plan because that is all you can afford or you just can't see shelling out tons for a short term that little plan can benefit you drastically if something major should happen. - 15224
